Skill gaming developer moves to Alderney jurisdiction

The publication This is Guernsey reports that Austrian company Greentube, a subsidiary of Astra Games and part of the Novomatic Group, has become the latest company to choose Alderney in the Channel Isles as its licensing jurisdiction.

Alderney offers licensees a respected regulatory authority, UK advertising white listing, a sophisticated technology and communications infrastructure and benign tax environment – all important considerations for online gambling operators and providers.

The island’s e-gambling director of e-commerce development, Robin Le Provost says more companies will follow Greentube.

“Licensing and regulatory developments taking place across Europe mean that it is becoming more attractive to European gaming businesses to have an international base such as Alderney,” he said. “What is significant for us with Greentube is that it is the beginning of a steady wave of interest from European-based companies.

“Historically, European-based companies have wanted to be based and regulated in the EU but I think they are starting to see the advantages of having an international base like ours. We are on the cusp of Europe, but not part of the EU, and have a world-leading telecommunications infrastructure they can rely on.”
